The Right Place at the Right Time

Having moved, years ago, to suburban Newton to raise their family in a nice house in a good school district that was closer to their work, our clients found themselves with an empty nest and pining for a more urban lifestyle. Though happily settled where they were, they never quite let go of the idea of one day returning to Cambridge where they had gone to school and been married.

Lindsay kept in touch with them over the years, occasionally letting them know about properties she thought might interest them, but mostly just keeping up with their lives. When they finally concluded that the time had come for them to move, the Cambridge market for the specific type of house they wanted was extremely tight. Finding a small house (but not too small) close to Harvard Square, with the character and “feel” they were looking for, turned out to be difficult indeed. The choices were extremely limited and demand was high. (You won’t be surprised to hear that they weren’t the only people who wanted to downsize to Cambridge, live near Harvard Square, and have enough room for the kids to come and visit!) Having sold their Newton house quickly and easily, they wound up deciding to rent temporarily in Cambridge and wait for the right property to appear. The waiting paid off. Just before they were scheduled to get on a plane to start a short sabbatical in England, the ideal house popped up: a place that they love and are truly excited about.
